On the value of teaching
The joy of knowledge is really what drives me to get up early in the morning and just learn things, go through books, articles, my notes. I wanna understand the world as complex as it is, I wanna be exposed to different perspectives, different systems of belief and value.
And I'm deeply grateful to the people that have showed me the joy of learning new things, helped me to become an obsessive learner. Among them are of course my parents, school teachers, university professors and many others. I've been incredibly lucky to have a great education, encounter great people, learn through online sources. And it never ends:)
Teaching should be deeply valuable in our society, in some sense teachers are the DNA of civilization: just like the genes pass on information from generation to generation, so that each new generation can benefit from the wisdom of previous ones, teachers are also charged with the task to pass on knowledge to the young students, shape young minds, spread knowledge, understanding across the world. Teachers share their love of learning with young students and in that way civilization advances, new ideas come up, innovations get implemented and the new world is being built.
So it's crucially important I think to value teaching, to nurture our desire for learning.
